Jazz pianist and composer Chantale Gagné quickly established a high esteemed reputation upon moving from Montreal, Quebec, to New York City where she met and performed with many musicians. Meeting with artists such as Steve Wilson, Lewis Nash, Peter Washington, Joe Locke, Renee Rosnes and Kenny Barron led her to self-produce three albums featuring her work as a composer. All three CDs are acclaimed and reviewed in jazz magazines around the world, including DownBeat, Jazz Times, Cadence, All About Jazz, JazzWax.com, Jazz Podium, etc.
Silent Strength, Wisdom of the Water and The Left Side of the Moon were all recorded with the same rhythm section team, namely bassist Peter Washington and drummer Lewis Nash. Vibraphonist Joe Locke collaborated on Wisdom of the Water and saxophonist Steve Wilson on The Left Side of the Moon.
Chantale was also part of the first Révélations Radio-Canada Musique lineup in 2008 and 2009, which still supports her career to this day. Moreover, her music continues to receive media attention in several countries around the world. Shortly after the release of her debut album, Steinway & Sons welcomed her into its Young Steinway Artists roster.
In 2016, while in Los Angeles, Gagné recorded and released a single of an arrangement of Chopin’s Étude in F minor, Opus 10, No. 9, performed with Bill Sheppard on saxophone, Corbin Jones on bass and Jason Harnell on drums.
Most recently, in 2017, Ms. Gagné recorded her first solo work produced by the Steinway & Sons’ label. She continues to pursue her musical career through composing and performances.
